night one celebrating 60 years of @si_swimsuit ✨

Going down in history named a Legend for this brand fills me up in ways I can’t quite explain. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and here I stand on the cover with this legendary class. As I write this there’s a moment in my journey to get here that stands out. I took 3 meetings in LA with different agents in 2016 where I expressed my career goals and shared how shooting for @si_swimsuit was at the top of that list. The immediate reaction of disapproval and “advice” to find a different path pushed me to realize that I was going to do this on my own. I believe in divine timing. I believe that doors close so others open. And I believe things happen FOR us and not TO us. In 2017 the first ever open call for SI Swim was announced, I saw this as my chance to cast for my dream job agent less. For those who don’t know, I won that open call a year later in 2018 and was named the first rookie for the 2019 issue. May of 2019 I landed the cover and 5 years later I stand on the cover as a Legend. Let this be a reminder that if you have a fire in your soul about a dream that feels far fetched … it’s not and it’s waiting for you to arrive AS YOU ARE ✨ Thank you @mj_day and @si_swimsuit team for taking a chance on me. the first time I shot in this studio was years ago when I was still finding my way in the modeling industry. I was unsure of how my career would turn out, but just remembered I was so eager to keep going. I was excited and nervous every time I would show up to a set. I could barely sleep the night before because I didn’t know anyone I was going to be working with and I wanted everyone to like me and never be dissatisfied with hiring me. I still find myself working through those feelings the night before big shoot days. But as I experience life more I’ve been tapping into what I’m feeling and why I’m feeling them and I’ve realized how over worrying and overthinking are such a waste of energy. I can’t control how others perceive me but I can control where I put my focus and direct my energy. If only I could have told my younger self on this same set years ago to just enjoy where I’m at because everything I was dreaming up was on its way … I would have saved myself a lot of unnecessary stress on my body and mind. This is a reminder that nothing will pass you by that is meant for you. The more you allow yourself to flow with the ups and downs of life the more we can settle into the unknown. And with that, I’m excited to share very soon what we shot in this studio all these years later. My younger self had a moment of reflection in this same makeup chair proud of the hungry mindset I still carry with me today because another manifested dream job came to life right there ????‍♀️????
